The Beatles fanatics might have some incredibly rare recordings in their collections if they dare to attend an auction. This is about a collection of unreleased recordings of the iconic group, including band rehearsals at John Lennon’s Kenwood home and even snippets from unreleased albums, all on 6 tapes. It is expected to fetch between $300,000 and $500,000.

Key Takeaway

A collection of lost and unreleased Beatles tapes, including band rehearsals and snippets from unheard albums, is being auctioned for an estimated price of $300,000 to $500,000. The tapes offer fans a unique glimpse into the creative process of the iconic group and include rare recordings by individual band members and collaborations with Yoko Ono. The auction, hosted by Gotta Have Rock and Roll, provides an exclusive opportunity for dedicated Beatles enthusiasts to own these priceless musical artifacts.

Unearthing Priceless Gems

The legendary tapes were obtained by a memorabilia collector named Phil from Charlotte, and he tells us he acquired the recordings 5 years ago from a man in India claiming to have initially obtained them from Derek Taylor, the former press officer of the group who was often dubbed the “Fifth Beatle.”

We are told that Phil listened to the tapes only once, so as not to damage them, but there is a ton of Beatles gems throughout – including rehearsals for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, complete with animal noises for “Good Morning Good Morning,” and even John and Paul McCartney complaining about the heat.

But that’s not all, there are also recordings from an unreleased album by George Harrison with The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, nearly 2 hours of Yoko Ono’s “Primal Scream Therapy” -yes, really- and an unreleased collaboration album by Yoko and John.

There is also an extremely personal and revealing 45-minute interview where John questions Yoko’s motives for being with him. It was recorded in 1969, the same year they got married.

The Auction and Unveiling

If you can afford the hefty price, the auction is already underway through Gotta Have Rock and Roll and closes on Friday. The tapes can be privately viewed and listened to by appointment.
