Whether you’re a believer or simply want a sign that you’re on the right path, Tarot cards can nudge you in the right direction. Think of it as a self-care practice that will help boost your self-awareness and confidence. Read on to learn what your Tarot birth card is and what it means.

What are Tarot Birth Cards?

Tarot cards have a similar function to your Zodiac sign and Sun sign. They give us a peek into ourselves, mainly our inner identity that remains the same throughout our lifetime. These cards can also reveal quite a lot of things about our strengths and weaknesses, as well as the potential we truly hold.

While it may not hold all of the answers we are looking for, it does have the key that may help us crack the code. The more we study them, the more discoveries we can make. You might be surprised at what your Tarot birth card and birth number can show you, especially when it comes to unlocking the role you have been assigned from the moment of your birth.

When you calculate your birth card, you will be given a combination of cards from the Tarot deck. It could be a pair (or a trio!) of cards from the major arcana or the minor arcana. Each pairing holds a significant meaning, which you can learn more about after you have calculated your birth card. To do this, use our formula in the example below.

How to Calculate Your Tarot Birth Card

To get your number, you can use a Tarot birth card calculator but doing it manually is quite easy as well.

The first thing you have to do is arrange your birth date using this sequence: MM + DD+ YY + YY. So, if your birthday is on March 23rd, 1987 it should be written like so 03 + 23 + 19 + 87

Next, sum up those numbers. If you get a two-digit sum, just add those numbers together to get your first birth card. For those who get three digits, add your first two digits to the third one.

For example:

The sum of 03 + 23 + 19 + 87 is 132. To get your first birth card, add 13 + 2 = 15. This gives you the first card, which is The Devil.

To calculate the second card, reduce 15 to a single number by getting the sum of both digits. Basically, 1 + 5 = 6. This gives you the second card, which is The Lovers.

Now that you have your pairing, you can refer to our brief explanation below to learn more about what these cards reveal about you.

Do note that these are just glimpses into your inner self and your path. As you grow as a person and gain more knowledge, your path can also transform. Use these explanations as a guide instead of instructions that you must strictly follow.

How Tarot Cards Work

A Tarot deck is composed of 78 different cards, each with its own symbolism. There are 22 Major Arcana cards, which represent the spiritual and karmic lessons we need to learn. On the other hand, the 56 Minor Arcana cards reflect our daily life, including the challenges we must overcome.

Within the Minor Arcana, there are 16 Tarot Court cards. These represent personality characteristics that a person may express at any given time. The other 40 Minor Arcana cards are arranged into four Suits that contain ten cards each. These cards symbolize everyday situations.

Learning how to do a Tarot reading isn’t just a matter of memorizing what each card means, however. Energy and intuition also come into play. In fact, experienced Tarot readers will tell you that the first thing you must do is create a connection with the cards. Through this connection, you are basically allowing the deck to speak through you.

As with any craft, practice makes perfect if you’re just starting out. You can start by doing Tarot birth card readings for yourself and sharpening your intuition in the process. The more you do it, the better you will become when it comes to tapping into what is known as the “universal wisdom” and channeling messages from your cards better as well.

How to Use Tarot Cards

Think of Tarot cards in the same way as putting a story together. Using the symbols and meanings you’ve been provided, you can piece learn how to read a person’s current journey through the cards that you pull. This is very similar to “reading” someone’s story through their Zodiac sign or their life path number.

Aside from learning about their story, the cards can also show you lessons that the person you’re doing a Tarot card reading for needs to learn. It can show the weaknesses they must learn to harness or overcome in order to lead a better life. If you’re reading for yourself, it will help increase your self-awareness and even tap into your subconscious mind. This will allow you to tap into the wisdom that you have had within you all along.

Tarot cards can be used for many different purposes, aside from learning about your Tarot birth card. You can use it to manifest your personal goals, for meditation, to help you make a more informed decision, to plan a business, and to find your way back to the right path if you feel as if you’ve strayed. These are just some of the uses it has– your own imagination and talent are the only limits.
