A Survivor’s Story: Ella Shani
Among those who shared their experiences was 14-year-old Ella Shani, who traveled from Israel to Santa Monica to meet Schwarzenegger. Ella bravely recounted the tragic loss of her father, who was brutally murdered by Hamas terrorists during the attack at Kibbutz Beeri.
Ella also revealed that her 16-year-old cousin, Amit Shani, was kidnapped during the chaos. Amit had sought refuge in a safe room, but Hamas militants set the place on fire and forcefully broke down the door. He, along with two other Israeli men from a neighboring house, was then abducted and taken to Gaza.
As Ella shared her heart-wrenching story, Schwarzenegger’s emotions overwhelmed him. Tears welled up in his eyes, and the two embraced at the end of their conversation. In an attempt to lift her spirits, Arnold also showed Ella some of his cherished movie memorabilia, including a robot head from the iconic film ‘Terminator.’
