Tory Lanez has been sent to North Kern State Prison to serve his sentence for the shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion. However, recent reports reveal that the prison has been marred by incidents of violence, including a murder accusation against a serial killer and multiple deaths. These events highlight the need for improved safety measures within the prison.
The facility, which houses over 4,000 inmates, will be where Tory spends at least the first few months of his 10-year sentence. However, recent reports have shed light on the dangers within the prison.
Accusations of Murder within North Kern State Prison
Local reports reveal that convicted serial killer Ramón Escobar has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly killing his cellmate earlier this year. Juan Villanueva, who was serving time for aggravated sexual assault of a minor, was found dead in his cell in February. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of inmates within the prison.
Another incident occurred on July 4, when 25-year-old Ricardo Saldivar was found dead in his cell. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is currently investigating his death as a homicide.
In addition, this month, a former inmate and convicted sex offender was found guilty in relation to an incident in 2020 where he attacked prison officers. These events highlight the ongoing security issues at North Kern State Prison.
Safety Concerns and Escapes
The facility is equipped with an electric fence around the perimeter, but there have been multiple reports of inmates escaping in recent years.
Although security measures are in place, the incidents of violence and escapes raise questions about the overall safety and effectiveness of the prison’s security protocols.
As previously reported, Tory will have the opportunity to engage in skilled labor jobs that pay $0.30 per hour, providing he applies and is selected for the program.
