The singer was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania, in the United States of America on December 13, 1989. She is of Scottish descent and was named after famous singer James Taylor. Her parents, Scott Kingsley Swift (father), and Andrea Gardner Swift (mother) raised her and her younger brother, Austin Taylor, on a Christmas tree farm. Her father worked as a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch, while her mother was a mutual fund marketing executive.
